Biography

Gabriel Pimentel is a jazz trumpeter, composer, and educator based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Known for his warm tone, lyrical phrasing, and expressive style, Gabriel blends modern improvisation with a deep respect for tradition—crafting a sound that feels both grounded and personal.

Gabriel began studying piano at age four before falling in love with the trumpet during his middle school years. He later studied Jazz Studies at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), where he developed his voice as a soloist, ensemble player, and composer. His work spans big band, small combo, chamber settings, and genre-blending collaborations.

Gabriel’s playing reflects a wide stylistic range—from straight-ahead jazz and Latin grooves to soulful ballads and funk-inspired improvisation—always grounded in a deep sense of melody and rhythm.

He is the trumpet player for The Chaya Jones Experience, led by Chaya Jones—a powerful ensemble blending jazz, R&B, soul, and songwriter-driven music. Gabriel also performs with Floyd and the Walkmen, a high-energy event and wedding band known for its tight grooves and crowd-pleasing sets.

As both a performer and collaborator, Gabriel brings a thoughtful, melodic sensibility to every stage—always chasing the honest, in-the-moment connection that makes live music truly special.

As an educator, he works with students of all levels to develop sound, technique, and musical confidence, emphasizing personal voice and artistic growth.
